Doctor talking:
I became a doctor because I like making an impact with people. I liked helping them out when they had a problem, getting them back to their steady state, and getting them home having solved that issue.
Doctor meeting with patient:
Really making a difference in somebody’s life is what really drove me into medicine. I chose general surgery because I really like being able to make a difference quickly and right away. Having patients come to the hospital with an issue that requires a quick action, quick solution, is something that really drew me to the the specialty itself. As a

general surgeon, I have a wide range of different things that I can do to help patients get better. Um, everything ranging from vascular access and ports and hemodialysis needs to, uh, thyroid, parathyroid surgery, uh, your run-of-the-mill gall bladder surgery, appendix, any acute care issues that come in through the emergency room as well as the many different kinds of hernias, are just some of the things that I can do.
Doctor meeting with patient:
Uh, in terms of general surgery I really have an an interest in minimally invasive surgery and robotics. I have quite a bit of experience with laparoscopic surgery as well as robotic surgery. Uh, robotic surgery is a new and developing field with multiple uses and is really exciting, especially in the world of general surgery.
Palos Medical Group on screen:
It seems like everyone in the group, from the support staff to the nursing staff to the physicians and administration really wants to care for the whole patient and make sure that they have the opportunity to be the healthiest person that they can be, and that’s what really drew me to Palos Health. There’s a real sense of community there, there’s a real sense of dedication and caring for the patient that comes at the forefront.
Philosophy of Care on screen:
My philosophy of care really centers around teamwork. I view myself as someone who needs to tell the

patient what’s going on, explain to them how it affects their daily life, and what their options for treatment are. Um, and then, once we come to a point where we both understand what’s going on, you can really work together as a

team to make the best, um, decision for them in order to get them back to their healthiest state that they can be. Now I have my own clinic where I can see people on a weekly or monthly basis and help them through their problems,

not only in the operating room but outside the operating room as well, helping to take care of not just their surgical issue but their whole health.
