Get Your Flu Shot Early
Flu season is back, and it brings with it new strains of the virus and new reasons to get your flu shot. Every flu season is different, and influenza infection can affect people differently. Even healthy people can get extremely sick from the flu and spread it to others. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends people get vaccinated against influenza as soon as the flu vaccine becomes available in their community.
Starting Monday, Oct. 7, Palos Immediate Care Center, 15300 West Avenue, in Orland Park will offer flu shots to people 18 and older. The cost is $25. No appointment is necessary.
The flu vaccine takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body and provide protection against infection. In the meantime, you are still at risk for getting the flu. That’s why it’s best to get vaccinated early in the fall before flu season begins.
