Doctor talking:
I am Robert Maxson, pulmonary and critical care specialist.

Doctor talking:
I diagnose and treat patients with diseases of the respiratory system.  These include acute and chronic conditions. I see and follow patients with COPD, asthma, bronchitis, chronic cough, as well as those with sarcoidosis, cystic fibrosis, interstitial lung diseases and infectious disease such as tuberculosis. I see patients with lung nodules or suspected cancer and assist with diagnosis and coordination or treatment.

Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine text appears on screen:
I chose pulmonary and critical care medicine for several reasons. It allows me to have a broad exposure to different pathologies and patients.

Doctor talking:
I’m able to see patients in the lung clinic, on the general hospital floors, as well as in the intensive care unit.

Doctor with patient:
The pulmonary component allows me to focus on one important organ that I can consult on and give recommendations for while following through the entire course of a disease. Meanwhile, with the critical care component, I will see patients when they may be very ill and will treat all of the pathologies that arise during their ICU stay.

Doctor talking:
I recommend patients see me when they have chronic or severe respiratory symptoms that are not responding to treatment by their primary care physician, or anytime your primary care thinks you may benefit from seeing me.

Philosophy of Care text appears on screen:
My philosophy of care is to get everyone involved in a patient’s care, especially the patient,

Doctor with patient:
on the same page regarding what their disease may be, how we are going to diagnose it and how we are going to treat it. I do not want any lingering questions or concerns unanswered. I want to use all the appropriate resources to give a patient the best possible outcome. What I enjoy about my role in caring for the patient is the direct interaction with patients and their families. I want everyone involved to be well informed

Doctor talking:
and understand what is going on and what the immediate and long-term plan may be. I would like my patients to walk away from our consultation with a clear understanding and all questions and concerns answered.
