Robotic-Assisted Surgery

Robotic assisted surgery

Sophisticated robotic technology enables surgeons to perform complex surgical procedures through small incisions with supreme precision, agility and control. Patients often experience significantly less pain, less scarring, less risk of infection, a shorter hospital stay and a quicker return to normal activities.

Palos uses robotic-assisted surgery for some gynecologic, urologic and general surgeries.

The technology provides surgeons with enhanced capabilities, including high-definition 3D™ vision and a magnified view. The surgeon controls the robot, which translates his or her hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments inside the body. Although it is often called a “robot,” the technology cannot act on its own – surgery is performed 100 percent by the physician.

Benefits of robotic-assisted surgery

Surgery using the robotic-assisted surgical system may offer important potential advantages for patients:

  • Shorter hospital stay
  • Faster recovery time
  • Less post-operative pain
  • Reduced scarring
  • Decreased chance of infection
  • Reduced blood loss
  • Lower risk of complications
