MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)

Palos Imaging & Diagnostics uses advanced MRI services to capture detailed images, as well as to ensure patient comfort and safety. We offer both of the following types of MRI scans:

  • 3T Magnetic Resonance Imaging – This state-of-the-art MRI system produces clear and precise images quickly. It is preferred by many physicians for taking neurological and musculoskeletal images.
  • 1.5T Magnetic Resonance Imaging - This MRI system is both proven and reliable. While most often used to capture abdominal and cardiac images, it can produce images for a variety of other applications as well.

What is an MRI?

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) does not use X-rays or radiation. Instead, highly detailed images are created by gathering the naturally occurring force of magnetic and radio wave energy. These signals are combined on a powerful digital computer to create images of body organs, soft-tissue structures, bones and blood vessels.

While MRI has a variety of applications, it is a widely used tool for the diagnosis of cancer, heart and vascular disease and strokes. MRI also is performed to diagnose sports-related injuries and provides highly accurate images of tendons, ligaments, cartilage, joints and muscle tissue.

MRI exams are non-invasive, and our staff is highly trained to protect your safety.
