What is an Ultrasound?
Ultrasound, also known as sonography, is a safe exam that uses high-frequency sound waves to obtain images. Its main benefit is its ability to capture images in real-time without being invasive or using radiation.
Ultrasound images show the structure and movement of internal organs, as well as blood flow through the body's major arteries and veins. A doctor may order an ultrasound to identify changes in the appearance of organs, tissues or blood vessels.
When you receive an ultrasound at Palos Imaging & Diagnostics, your images will be read by an experienced radiologist and a report will be sent to your ordering provider.
